Changing name for passport

Has anyone changed to a double barrel name and been able to update their passport using just their marriage certificate?

I’ve looked online and keep finding conflicting information about whether I need to pay to do a deedpoll or whether because it is obvious that it is my old name and new name, that no deedpoll is required. If I can get a new passport then that would be considered proof of name for anything else I wish to change.

On the official website
www.gov.uk/changing-passport-information/name-marriage-and-civil-partnership

It says:

Get a new passport after the ceremony
Send your marriage or civil partnership certificate when you apply for a passport in your new name - this includes double-barrelled names.

If you do need to do a deed poll, you definitely don't need to pay for it.

Yes. Husband and I this week. We both went double barreled and got married in December in Florida. Husband has already had a text to say his has been approved.

We just sent our marriage licence through as per the above guidelines.
