What time does your 17 month old go to bed and get up in the morning? Also how many naps a day and for how long for? And does your lo sleep through the night?
Sorry for all the questions I want to get my dd into a routine as she just goes to bed a lot later than I think she should!!
If your lo is older or younger I'd still be interested in knowing tia xx

My DS is 3 but has had a bedtime of 7pm for a long while now. He usually wakes around 6am.

littletreasure2017 · 07/03/2019 21:54

Thankyou for your reply!! I was thinking around 7.30 pm for bed time!! She doesn't normally go to bed till gone 9.30 which was okay and worked but as she's getting older I'm having to wake her up in the morning to do stuff and she's worn out, falls asleep around 5-7pm then not ready for bed till late xx

7-7 overnight with a 2 hour nap from 1-3. DD is a little bit older but this has been her routine since she moved to the toddler room at daycare when she was 15 months.

18 month old

Bed at 7-7.30
Wakes between 5.30 and 6 but think this is down to development leap currently
Generally sleeps through
1 nap a day going down around 12.30-1.00 and sleeps between 1hr15 and 2 hours

Naschkatze · 07/03/2019 22:05

DS is just two but at 17 months he went to bed about 6:45 and up about 6am. It was around this time he started consistently sleeping through the night, rather than a few nights in a row then a couple of 'bad' ones. He still had two naps up until about 18 months: 9:30-10:30ish and 2-3ish. Now he naps about 12:30pm for 1-2 hours.

PeterRabbitsBlueCoat · 07/03/2019 22:23

DD1 is 3
DD2 is 17m

Both up around 6:30-7, dressed breakfast & then DD1 to kindergarten.

DD2 has a nap around 11 for 2 hours.
DD1 no longer naps.

Dinner at 6 & then bed at 7 for them both.

Always had bedtime at 8. 1.5 hour nap after lunch.

Neither of my DC slept through reliably...we tried earlier bedtimes but that just led to 5am wake ups. Officially getting up time is 7.

Caterina99 · 09/03/2019 03:17

DD is nearly 17m. She goes to bed at 7 and usually wakes up between 6 and 7am. She normally naps for 2 hours 1-3pm ish

Sleeping through is a bit varied sadly.

Newyearnewunicorn · 09/03/2019 04:51

DS is 19 months goes to bed at 9pm ish. Wakes between 6-8 am depending on how long he’s been awake during the night and naps for 1.5 hours sometime between 11-3 am.

vgiraffe · 09/03/2019 05:29

Why such a late bedtime? I can't wait to get DD into bed and relax in the evening 😁 She's 2 but for ages has had a 7pm bedtime (and bedtime routine takes about 30 mins). Then awake anytime between 6 and 7.30 - she goes through phases of waking earlier or later. Mostly sleeps through. One nap in early afternoon of up to two hours. At 17 months I think she had dropped to one nap already but at 11am.

Birdsgottafly · 09/03/2019 06:26

"Why such a late bedtime?"

Not all children need as much sleep.

My GD has an hour nap in the day. She goes up around 8.30-9.00. She gets up around 7.30am.

A little boy I mind a month older. Has dropped his nap. He goes to bed around 8.30. Gets up around 7.30am.

SoyDora · 09/03/2019 06:30

Mine are 5 and 3 now but have been in a 7-7 routine since about 4 months old. One slept through at 17 months, one didn’t. Both napped 12.30-2 at that age (although both dropped their naps at around 20 months)

Desmondo2016 · 09/03/2019 06:35

My dd is a little older now but at that age was going down at 7 and sleeping through 99% of the time until around 8. If she was kept up later for whatever reason she would wake earlier and be grumpy. Sleep breeds sleep definitely still applies in toddlerhood!

Aebj · 09/03/2019 06:35

Ds1 was and is still now a night owl. At that age he would happily go to bed around 9-10pm and get up around 8:30am. He would have a nap just after lunch , for anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours, average 1 . 5 hours.
When he was young Primary age we made him go to bed at 7:30 and he happily went down and was up at 7.
He’s now 15. School nights he goes to bed around 9:30-10pm. He gets up around 7-7:30 ( twice a week , weather depending he gets up at 5:30 to go surfing with school).
Weekends he gets up around 10
Ds2 likes being up in the morning. At that age he went to bed 7-7:30 but was up around 5-6am. He would have a 2 hour sleep in the afternoon.

Hope this helps

DD is now 2, she’s been going to bed at 7.30 since she was 4 months.
Since she turned 1 she’s been an early riser, up about 6am. She’s really ready to sleep at 7.30 so as much as I’d love her to sleep later on the morning I wouldn’t change her bedtime

Smoggle · 09/03/2019 06:47

My 17 month old gets up between 6.30-7am
Naps 12.30-2.30
Goes to bed 7-7.30pm
Mostly sleeps through.

user1493413286 · 09/03/2019 06:48

Since about 16 months she’s had about an hour nap in the day after lunch; sometimes she has it now and sometimes not

Sipperskipper · 09/03/2019 06:53

DD is 21 months. Naps 1.30-3, bed at about 7.45, up at 7am.

Di11y · 09/03/2019 07:18

dd is 18mo, she goes to bed between 6.45 and 7.15 usually, has between 1 hour 10 and 2 hour nap from 12.40/1pm and I've trained her not to disturb us til 6.30 but she often wakes from 5.30 😱

it's early to bed partly so I can do my eldest after without it being too late for her and partly because a layer bedtime sometimes means she wakes even earlier.

RedSpottyKettle · 09/03/2019 07:32

My DD is 22 months old and goes to bed at 5:45 which I thought was normal till I read this post. She sleeps through till 6/7 which works for us as we need to be up and out early most days. We’ve had the same bed time routine since she was about 8 months old.
I’ll add she has never in her life let me put her down for a proper nap so she is very tired after dinner.

Thecomfortador · 09/03/2019 07:35

I always struggled to get ds1 in bed early, at that age I was happy with 8pm but it was often later. It just didn't suit us to go earlier. I'm also crap at routine and don't always notice what time it is.

Now he's 3 he mostly goes around 7 as dropped nap most days. My 10 month old is usually asleep by 7.30 although he doesn't sleep through yet.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 09/03/2019 07:37

19month old- up at 6am ish and down for bed at 7pm (she’s a CBeebies baby for sure) - with a 1-2hr nap after lunch

meepmoop · 09/03/2019 07:38

My DS is 18months, bed time is around 6.30/7pm and I wake him up at 7.30. He has a half hour nap around 11ish.

I think he wakes in the night which is why he sleeps so long but he doesn't wake me up so not sure how long he's up
