Hate online shopping - rubbish dates, fatty ham, small bananas, etc. Since I've started 'scan & shop' it's so much better! And I've moved to Asda too, miles cheaper than Tesco.

Might just be your Tesco; mine's usually fine & the driver always points out any short dates so I can send them back if they're no good.

DamonSalvatoresDinner · 07/03/2019 17:03

That's why I store buy only. They do have the guaranteed number of days left as stated online but you can do so much better in store yourself.

I use Ocado or Waitrose
Never had any problems that could not be rectified
I used Tesco just once and they messed my order up and overcharged me

They are supposed to point out short dates and they should be printed on your delivery note. You can reject those items if you aren’t happy with the dates.

The website shows minimum dates for each product eg guaranteed to have at least 5 days date. If there are other items with dates shorter than the minimum specified on the website, and it wasn’t specified on your delivery note, just inform them and they’ll refund you.

My issue with me having the ability to reject the short dated products is that while I still get a refund and I don't have food going off unused, it defeats the whole point of online shopping. I have to traipse out and buy it myself or go without. Same goes for substitutions.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 07/03/2019 17:14

They have a 3 day use by.im not going shopping again so I'll have to make do but I'm a bit Hmm

I’ve had the same problem with Tesco a couple of times. Each time I listed the short dated items and called customer services to complain and they refunded me and let me keep the goods anyway.
