Reflux - baby in hospital, help ?

Last night we called an ambulance as I woke up to my 7 week baby not breathing, purple and arms flailing.

We called 999 and by the time the call ended he was asleep.

We picked him up and helped him get breath back and we are now in the hospital under observation to make sure it’s just reflux.

Has this happened to anyone, and did raising the cot end help as I really thought my own heart would stop.

Consultant said more likely that it will never happen again and once a baby will frighten their parents once then be okay forever !

This happened to one of mine at three months old, hand down most terrifying time of my life. I was convinced he'd do it again and die or end up brain damaged.

He never did it again, it was a strange one off, and is now a (ridiculously energetically) healthy and bright 7 year old. The tilting never helped us much, I tried the cot sensor pads but they went off all night, in the end he just slept in with me and was fine.

I hope you have similar luck and are able to get some rest Flowers

Thanks for reply, the doctor is adamant that these things are very common one offs so it’s good to hear your story.

As we wait in the hospital every red face or squirm I feel like my heart will stop

My dd was admitted to hospital at 8 weeks for monitoring as she used to go grey whilst asleep, I just mentioned it in passing to the HV and they wanted us in overnight to monitor oxygen levels..
They said it was reflux and the gunk sitting on her lungs slowing her breathing whilst she slept..
She was given medication and now has a happy healthy just turned 2 yr old

Thank you for reply - they said to us to try without medication first
