Where’s my period?

So the last 5 months I’ve become aware that my cycle has shrunk and has been around 22/23 days instead of 28. Went to GP who said blood test on day 2-5 of cycle. I booked blood test based on 23 day cycle and was due on Sat. I’ve had my normal pmt, sore boobs and I’m spotting very faintly when I wipe but this has been for 2 days now and no period. Normally I’d be in full flood. Have had to re arrange blood test in the hope I come on properly. I wouldn’t normally think anything of it as maybe my cycle has sorted itself out but the spotting? I normally spot for half a day then go really heavy.
Any ideas? And don’t say pregnancy because I’m sterilised and haven’t used contraception for 4 years so I doubt that will suddenly have failed. Just a bit baffled. Thanks in advance.

It's come to me, in the blasted perimenopausal "let's confuse everyone just as they think they're figuring it out" circle of life

Ha ha. How do you know if you’re peri menopausaul? I thought that wouldn’t be until I was in my
40’s?

Apparently the best way to estimate it is when it happened to your mother.

For me, it's period madness and moodiness plus I'm already mid 40's

Thank you @seanceinterrupted I’m 36 nearly 37 but my mums periods stopped at 41. I’m very moody but thought it was mostly pmt. still haven’t come in properly. Spotting. No idea what to do about the blood test.

Sounds like it could be perimenopausal then ... I've been randomly dodgy for years now (but I'm almost 47)

There's several peri threads that have been around lately that might be worth a read - some of the symptoms I had no clue about. Like food tasting different, etc ...
