Easy Mothers Day Lunch Ideas for 7 people - Help!

We're having both sets of parents over to our house for Mothers Day, so 6 adults and 1 fussy 5 year old DS!

My mum has a number of health conditions so can't eat any red meat, just white meat/fish/vegetables.

My husband will be making something for us all and don't want him having to get into multiple meals ideally.

We don't want to eat out as both mums aren't well enough. Any ideas for something easy to prepare?

I'd like a hot meal, but I don't want him having to serve up a roast dinner or anything. He's previously made a homemade lasagne the night before, but something like isn't possible now.

Or could people suggest some bits and pieces to make up a nice buffet? Maybe with some hot bits included?

Coq au vin or Hunters chicken served with Dauphinois potatoes for main course.

Maybe smoked salmon or a salmon pate with toast for a starter if you wanted one.

Buy a cake for pudding or maybe make a Black Forest trifle?

id do a roast chicken, quiches, salad, coleslaw, jacket spuds, cheeses, some cold meats, crusty bread etc. that way everone can pick what they want but a lot of it is easy to prep and can be made in advance. really on day chuck the chicken, potatoes and quiche in the oven and the rest can be prepped/chopped/laid out.

Afternoon tea?

Scones (warmed in oven) cream / butter / jam
Sandwiches (cheese / ham / chicken etc)
Some little savoury tarts / quiches (M&S / Tesco food to order)
Variety of cakey bits

Sorted!

How about a nice home made chicken and leek pie. Could be prepared entirely the night before and just pot in the oven on the day. Serve with simple new potatoes or make a tray of roasted baby potatoes and fresh green beans and broccoli.

Thanks for the ideas so far, these are lovely ideas.

I've just been googling and a Chicken Tagine or fish pie could be other options. Adding them here so the ideas are all in one place!

I’d do a one pan (or 2 pans for 7) chicken traybake with some salad or veg. Buy a dessert.
