Stopping giving a time to go to bed

At what age did you stop giving an actual bedtime for your child. Me and DH are in dispute over this as I think that it's time she self regulated and he thinks she should still have an official bedtime.

Not at that stage with DS yet but when I was growing up, I had to go to bed at 9pm during the week until I was 12. After that, I had a tv in my room and was allowed to watch until 10pm. Then at 14/15, I could as long as I wanted by my mum would keep shouting through, 'it won't be this in the morning!'
