Is this normal 18 year old behaviour?

Our nephew’s on Instagram. He constantly posts selfies, usually close up-looking down into the camera. Then his mates will post replies like ‘fresh G’. Then his girlfriend professes her love for him, he replies. Same the next day and the next.

I find it so weird! Is this normal? Is this what teenagers do these days? He’s actually an adult! I want to shake him and tell him to get a bloody life!

Totally normal

HollowTalk · 05/03/2019 20:25

What does 'fresh G' mean?

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/03/2019 20:26

What does 'fresh G' mean?

I presume nephews name or nikname begin with G and he is looking fresh (cool).

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/03/2019 20:27

My 18 year and nearly 18 year old don't do this but I think it's pretty normal.

formerbabe · 05/03/2019 20:28

I presume nephews name or nikname begin with G

Bless you

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 05/03/2019 20:28

I think G might be for “gangsta”. It is for the youth I know.

Best guess at translation “Looking spiffy old chum.”

endevo · 05/03/2019 20:28

😂

Jeez but i'm older than I thought... Plus, in my 'hood insults are more the order of the day...typical response would be "ugly bawbag"

Hughes12345 · 05/03/2019 20:55

Oh god,I was hoping you’d tell me it was absolutely abnormal! DS is 10, I’m hoping this trend will have passed by the time he hits his teens.

I honestly just find it a bit pathetic. He’s not a gangster, he’s a carpet fitter from South Shropshire 🤦🏼‍♀️

It’s cringey as fuck but alarmingly normal.

IdaBWells · 05/03/2019 20:58

“He’s a carpet fitter from South Shropshire”

Grin ok actually lol

MeInGeneva · 05/03/2019 20:58

Unfortunately it's nauseatingly normal.

Forget flower power, these kids are all about free love.

My DD posts and gets hundreds of comments like "love you so much insert nickname this friend has for her and they all have different ones" Hmm

MrsEricBana · 05/03/2019 20:59

Yep normal

GissASquizz · 05/03/2019 21:00

Normal. And they never smile.

Kismetjayn · 05/03/2019 21:01

Not all of them do it! Don't fret for your son!

It's definitely the norm for my age group but I'm not on Insta, I only use Facebook for my study group, and I'm generally very dull. Your son might not roll with your nephews gangsta crew, have hope Grin

Hughes12345 · 05/03/2019 21:03

Yes! He never smiles! It’s the same pose over and over and over again. Sometimes the girlfriend will appear -same nostril shot angle. And the eyebrows, don’t get me started on the eyebrows! 🐛 🐛

Definitely quote of the week for me! :o

"He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy..." classic!
