Just orderedone as carpets are hideous! Don't want a professional coming. Tried vax before and was rubbish and sent it back. StainPro 6Carpet Cleanerby bissel. It had good reviews but now wandering If it will be as useless as the vax....

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for product recommendations, we’ve recently updated our guide to the best carpet cleaners with lots of options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users and editors. I've got the little green one which is fine for doing rugs and car mats etc. Its very good, but hard work and the scrubby brush thing is not detachable, which makes it too harsh for upholstery.

Thank you. This is an upright one with the nozzle for stairs and upholstery. I'm hoping it's good. I'm desperate for clean carpets! Kids cousins trashed them and we have a house inspection soon from our estate agents Sad

So it came today. And has done a good job on the area I tested. Very wet still however might be the way I'm using it.... going to do the whole house at the weekend

To be honest apart from stains from kids dropping juice chocolate exit wasn't very dirty as we dont wear shoes in the house. Was amazing on the stains though. Got blackcurrant juice out

Pleased you liked it!! If you take time to go over the area you're cleaning several times then the drier it will be (obviously don't re wet after the initial clean has been done) but it does take a while until the carpet's fully dry again.

Thanks certain. It has dried now so going to the dining room today. And living room tomorrow. Looks very close to a new carpet. Will do stairs at the weekend then upstairs. Nice to look fresh again!

We got one a couple of months ago and it is amazing! We even used to to remove the water from the washing machine when it packed up on Sunday thankfully working again now. It has been worth its weight in gold since we have a puppy who has had bad aim...

I have an upright Bissel. It's the dog boll*cks. Which will come as a surprise to the dog.

Brilliant machine.

Have you got a link to the model you've bought OP? I really would like one, but not sure I can justify it with only the odd rug and a stair carpet (wood or tiles all over).

Tryingtoholdittogether · 06/03/2019 19:42

Yes I bought it from very on credit as money is tight but needed to be cleaned and can't pay a pro. We have 4 monthly inspections by agency and our nieces and nephews dropped their slime and juice every where!

Not cheap but cheaper in the long run as I won't need to pay someone else to do it and can now clean marks as soon as they happen. A few stains where a bit stubborn but with the hand tool and a bit of elbow grease it was easy and dried now.
