I'm very proud of of my effort this year. Got a glass jar, half filled it with leftover Halloween sweets we haven't got round to binning, and jammed a toy stuffed rat in there. He's going as 'Boy' from Boy.

Ours are having a pyjama day. They can literally go to school in their PJ’s and the theme is Bedtime story. Grand, don’t even have to get them dressed Grin

I am painting a face green and using green clothes we already own, so that ds can be Frog, from Oi Frog. May or may not cut out green flippers to stick on his shoes. Yours sounds much better.

Phillipa12 · 04/03/2019 19:55

Red tshirt and green trousers with spikey hair and his favourite dinosaur. The Dinosaur that pooped the bed!

MrsSlocombesPussy · 04/03/2019 19:57

Those days are finished for us now, but our last costume consisted of jeans and T-shirt, with a golden ticket we found on the internet and printed out. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

Mine's going in his own clothes, with one hand coloured purple, and a rubber joke spider and fake sick. Horrid Henry.

The youngest one is going in his gruffalo top.

I hate the spending associated with WBD. It's awful how at the supermarkets there's row upon row of superhero costumes and then loads of badly written books tojustify why it's ok to go to school dressed as Ironman/ Spider-Man because look, I've got a book about him honest. So now parents get conned into buying a costume and a book. Ludicrous!

Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs is a piece of piss, as is Wimpy Kid.

Andy or Terry from 13 Storey Treehouse - series. Terry (author) has dark hair and wears black trousers and a black tshirt - give him a notebook that says "Once Upom A Time" and Terry, the illustrator wears a white tshirt and black trousers, give him a spooncil (pencil with a spoon on the end). The characters named after the real author and illustrator. My DSs LOVE these books. A girl could be Jill, with a catnary (flying yellow cat).

EhlanaOfElenia · 04/03/2019 21:32

Oh and Terry has blonde hair.

I've got to cook a bloody wbd themed cake and connect it with My House ( am Head of House) at school. So something yellow. The cake part is fine as make bloody good cake. Decoration, however, is another issue.

Two ideas so far

  1. Lemon drizzle with row of lemon slices ( possibly candid) down the centre with a car (toy or made out of icing) on top for 'driving Over Lemons'

Or

  1. Either lemon or vic sponge plus lemon butter ream icing. Slices of dried apple, banana and pineapple as 'Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit'.

Anyone got other brainy ideas. Skill level, time and energy for decorating is nil.

A friend posted this earlier today. DS(7) is going as number 10

I have just painted (using DCs paints and PVA glue) a plastic bottle brown as we haven’t got one. DS1 is going on own clothes with that and a spoon. I shall label the bottle ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’.

Last year I really pushed the boat out and made a red cloak (red ribbon on red material) and he wore white underpants over his clothes (too cold for any nakedness) as Captain Underpants.

I very much like that list.

Ours are doing that too. But on Wednesday. And THEN it’s dress ups on Thursday. Bastards.

Thankfully DS1 has suggested he wear his Hogwarts robes again (he went as Harry last year). ‘But this year I won’t do glasses or a scar, so I’ll be Ron.’

Good boy.

thedisorganisedmum · 04/03/2019 23:03

Youngest is wearing a yellow tshirt - big semi-circle smile and 2 round circles eyes in black marker. Mr Happy and she is happy!

Geekster1963 · 04/03/2019 23:04

I want DD to go as The Emperors New Clothes Grin

AdaColeman · 04/03/2019 23:18

Flyingarcher Does it need to be an adult book? If not, One Yellow Ribbon by Marthe Jocelyn, just tie your cake around with a yellow ribbon.

Or get some ready rolled yellow icing and drape over cake.... The Yellow Wallpaper!

MadameJosephine · 04/03/2019 23:25

Flyingarcher

How about a lemon cake with the Lemony snicket series of unfortunate events symbol on the top?
