Does anyone else shower in the dark?

I have a shower every morning, but find it too much to put the light on and have a shower. Showering in the dark wakes me up gradually and makes me feel less grumpy. DP thinks this is strange. So do others do this too?

I overbalance if the lights aren’t bright enough. 🤷‍♀️

Daleks can go upstairs!
But no, I don't have a window in the bathroom so I have to shower with the light on.

NoahsArks · 05/03/2019 07:41

I do because otherwise you can see in from the street.

I can’t face showering on the morning (sensory overload) so I suppose I’m the opposite with the light on and the shower offWink

Theoldwoman · 05/03/2019 10:21

Do you not bump into things?

I don't shower in the dark but I do use candles from time to time for relaxation.

I shower in the semi dark too, hall light on only. I don’t even bother turning on the lights on if I’m just having a wee but I do have good eyesight too.
It’s part lazyness and partly I like how calm the bathroom feels when dark.

I don’t shower in the dark, but I never switch the light on when I go for a wee in the middle of the night. Its physically painful for me to go from dark-adjusted eyes to bright light - my eyes water and feel sort of clenched. It’s only a small bathroom and I don’t leave stuff lying around so nothing to trip over.

I have ME & sensory issues. I detest bright stark lights. My shower head has in built colour changing LED mood lights inside. It's blue to start off with as water cool and goes through pink as it warms and red once hit. I luv luv luv it and makes for a much nicer shower experience

No but we've got a dimmer in the bathroom so I do dim the lights right down for showers and baths. Lovely and relaxing.

My dc have flashing toothbrushes so we also do 'disco teeth' as a treat sometimes.

I do but I need to replace the bulbs in the bathroom. I just leave the door open with the hall light on. I do live alone though.

screamifyouwant · 05/03/2019 17:56

Not in the dark but I don't bother with the light now it's not as dark in the morning I find it too bright .

dudsville · 05/03/2019 17:58

I do too! Another here to cite sensory overload. It's not just the light (mine are actually low wattage, but still) but the fan. I turn the light and fan on when I'm leaving the bathroom. I was on holiday once in an extremely hot place and in accommodation without air conditioning. I took 2 to 3 night time dips in a cool tub in the dark. T'was amazing. Educate your dh.

What an amazing idea. I’m trying this tomorrow!

Picklypickles · 05/03/2019 18:10

No, I need to see if there are any spiders sneaking up on me.
