Social Media/Facebook Gurus - Would you recommend doing this?

So be interested to get insights into this..

When posting on FB (for work) I always "like" the posts...have been doing for years as was advised when we had social media training.

Has someone in today to look at our social media and he almost fell off his chair and said why on earth do you do that, how vain! Shock

You mean you post as you and then like your own posts?

Or you post as “official company name” and then you as an individual like the post.

First is a no from me. Second would be ok.

I’m not a guru but that’s my opinion. Grin

Stupomax · 04/03/2019 15:13

I'm not a guru but I do manage FB accounts for clients.

No. It just looks like a slightly desperate and ineffective way to boost your own posts. I roll my eyes when I see other people doing it.

My clients want likes and shares from people who actually matter, not their social media manager.

That's my thinking anyway.

Yes post under the company name and like the posts.

Ive been doing this for 5-6 years as was told to...ooo may stop now!

Or I copy links from related items in the press...still not savvy to like???

No, don't like your own posts! When producing reports of how well social media has performed, your organic reactions won't be a true reflection. It also doesn't look good when people like their own posts!

Overseasmom100 · 04/03/2019 16:49

Ok I will stop.

Any more tips on increasing page likes, post likes, shares etc?

The more likes/comments there are seem to give posts priority. Ones with more comments seem to be higher up my newsfeed. Try adding a comment instead of liking your own post.

Santasballsack · 04/03/2019 21:51

Use hashtags on the off chance someone searches or tag people i.to the posts, their friends will also see the post.

Overseasmom100 · 04/03/2019 22:19

I thought hashtags were really for twitter and not Facebook?

Hash tags have bled across to FB after they acquired Instagram.

Overseasmom100 · 05/03/2019 13:08
