when M/c Picc. station was being re-vamped, Railtrack, as it was, applied for permission to build two Ikea stores using the massive roof space above the concourse - a furniture store at one end, and nic-nack one ot the other end ( plants, frames that sort of thing.)

Well, the City Council vetoed the plans...because..




















They thought they were getting ikeas above their station.
