Nits help!

JazzyBBG · 03/03/2019 15:09

I've just found what I think are nits on my eldest however they seem completely different to last time is this possible? Been looking for days as she was itching.

Last time - grey not eggs and white lice

This time - neither of the above the odd white egg on strands of hair and a grey fly (defo not a flea)

Off to buy Hedrin but why so different??

White eggs are hatched cases (probably left overs from last time). Have you found any actual live lice?

Confusedbeetle · 03/03/2019 15:29

Talk to the pharmacist. Also, do some serious fine tooth combing. Not a big problem

Girlinthegarden · 03/03/2019 15:29

Lice are brownish creatures, tiny but you can see them moving. Unhatched eggs greyish, egg cases white.

No last time was about 3 years ago. Definitely some eggs on the shafts just can't see any live. So hard to spot on sandy coloured hair though I know the buggers are there.

I know exactly what you mean about being hard to see. I always put dh's headlamp on which illuminates the nuggets.

FireCrotch · 03/03/2019 15:41

Buggers not nuggets Grin

dementedpixie · 03/03/2019 15:42

Have you covered the hair in conditioner and used the nit comb to check for lice?

dementedpixie · 03/03/2019 15:43

How far down the hair shaft are the white eggs? The further down, the longer it has been since they were laid.

dementedpixie · 03/03/2019 15:45

Maybe she has dandruff rather than head lice

rosydreams · 03/03/2019 15:52

loreal kids conditioner wont kill the lice but is excellent for removing eggs .When i did my daughters hair i first killed the lot off and combed a lot with the treatment shampoo. Then every few days i used the kids conditioner just to look for eggs

Soontobe60 · 03/03/2019 15:54

Get a nit comb and wipe down after each comb through onto damp kitchen paper.

£50 of Hedrin later it's definitely nits! Just not sure why they were so much harder to see this time. Now to do mine 😬😬😬
