My name is Flurgle and I’m a stationery addict. I’m not alone right?

I’ve just spent hours searching online for the perfect item of stationery. It will change my life, make me more organised and I will be happy.
Whyyyyyyyy???!!
Realistically I know I will smile at it happily, use it for a few days then it will languish in a cupboard till I give it to someone with a child who will like it.

Disclaimer- I’m not actually looking for real help. I just want people to agree that this is perfectly normal and maybe tell me about their own stationery Grin

slow I have a hobonichi!!!

I've had two a6's, a cousin and now I'm in a weeks. I think the weeks is love.

Also can anyone tell how excited I am by my multiple posts as I read through the thread, rather than waiting until the end!!

Rosie1976mini · 07/03/2019 21:18

There was a shop called C.F. Nash in Miller Street in Glasgow that was like a stationery bazaar - my wee gran used to take me there - that started my addiction.

By the time I came to be working in Glasgow City Centre it had spread it’s delight over 2 floors! Sadly it was sold to be turned in to trendy city centre flats...

However I can trawl Paperchase for hours, and am drawn to wee boutiquey shops that might harbour a sneaky stationery supply!

Paperchase are currently seeking financial advice Sad hope they pull through

Slowknitter · 07/03/2019 21:27

Hobonichi is fab in a lot of ways (I have an A5 Hobonichi Cousin), but it has taken me a while to get to grips with how I want to use it, and I'm still not entirely convinced that I'd get another one. I am/was a Bujoer, but Hobonichi is not really in the true spirit of Bujoing, as it's pre-laid-out.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 07/03/2019 21:31

You are so not alone.

My local Office Outlet is closing down and has a big sale on. It's probably the most exciting thing my local newspaper has ever reported.

Tomorrow I go shopping Grin

Lisette1940 · 07/03/2019 21:43

I've a Leuchtturm bullet journal which has numbered pages and an index.

Theunreasonableone · 07/03/2019 21:48

Hello! I too am a stationery and bujo addict! My last purchase was an array of different coloured ink disposable fountain pens. Doesn’t help that I have a very ‘writie’ job

BalloonSlayer · 07/03/2019 22:03

oooh theunreasonableone where were those pens from please?

TellMeItsNotTrue · 07/03/2019 22:35

Me too, I think it goes back to the nightmare that is school uniform shopping, made worse because it was for 3 of us and primary and secondary so different requirements. We were on our best behaviour because we had the holy grail in front of us - stationery shopping! We were allowed, within reason, to buy whatever we wanted and stuff that totally wasn't necessary for school. We didn't even have the kids shops like Smiggle then, WHSmiths all the way!

I love planners and sticky notes and quirky pens, I love notebooks but I hate starting one as it stops it being all shiny and new!

Live Spiffy have some cool pads/planners/sticky notes etc. I think WELCOME10 gets you 10% off

PinkSmitterton · 07/03/2019 22:35

I also could use just for window shopping, definitely not for buying some fountain pen recommendations

thislidofullofdeadfish · 07/03/2019 23:02

Might be these, balloon

Pink Pilot Capless. Amazing. A retractable fountain pen. It makes them so practical. Not cheap but worth every penny if you can make a special purchase at some point.

justasking111 · 07/03/2019 23:11

I love stationery. I still use treasury tags, so useful for collating a lot of papers. I like a board in the office, a physical calendar. I daren`t google that Japanese thing....

BalloonSlayer · 08/03/2019 06:56

Thank you lido, DD and I will be on that site later! Flowers

PrivateIsles · 08/03/2019 07:22

Tokyo is my number one dream holiday destination... Just for the stationery. Well, not only for that... but mostly. One day!!

MulticolourMophead · 08/03/2019 09:52

I love Diamine inks. I have several different shades, my current favourite being the Soft Mint.

justasking111 · 08/03/2019 12:21

Have bought this for a friends birthday, she will be ecstatic Grin

Santasballsack · 08/03/2019 13:41

Justasking i have that one in green. Its lovely but some colours tend to bleed through the pages.

Slowknitter · 08/03/2019 15:44

I daren`t google that Japanese thing....

Very wise. I coveted it for aaages and finally caved. It has a separate cover, so at least if I don't buy another Hobonichi planner, I can still use the cover for a different A5 planner.

ladybird69 · 08/03/2019 22:49

Oh wow just lost 2 hours on the Live Spiffy website. I NEED everything 😁

TellMeItsNotTrue · 09/03/2019 09:59

@ladybird69 I don't know whether to apologise or say you are welcome Grin they have some fantastic things, quirky and unusual, useful but fun.

I struggled to control myself... And when I say I controlled myself...I reached the free postage Grin but that just makes sense right? Reduces the overall cost Wink I could easily have doubled it if I had the cash

PigeonPie · 09/03/2019 10:10

I too am a stationery addict and have a job which can feed my addiction. Because I work from home I have to have an account with our local stationers and a proper stationery cupboard in my office.

I'm always on the hunt for suitable notebooks. Paperchase used to do lovely ones which were lined but had nice thick paper which could handle fountain pen ink and didn't bleed, but they've had a really limited selection recently.

I also have a collection of fountain pens with different colours for different purposes!

TheShiteRunner · 09/03/2019 10:24

Oh! I have found my people!
After many many years of experimenting, my favourite books are the Leuchtturm 1917 ones. Feast your eyes.
They have an INDEX. So say you're writing notes from the Evans meeting (or whatevs) on p24, you put that in the index and you can find it immediately. Then when you're writing George Clooney fanfic on p54, you put that in the index and... you see what I mean.

I am very very fussy about paper quality and covers- I prefer dots to lines, and I prefer a plain cover. In fact, Paperchase makes me twitchy- everything is so fussy and cute. (I'm aware that some of you will be disgusted at me for this.)
Also writing is my job, so I can buy this stuff and pretend it's completely necessary.

Theunreasonableone · 16/03/2019 09:53

@BalloonSlayer - so sorry I’ve just seen your question. Yes, they were the Pilot V Pens. They write beautifully!
