Blackpool, or South Port is probably .less than an hours drive from Blackburn.

hidinginthenightgarden · 01/03/2019 19:04

As above really. Or Manchester where there is plenty to do.

Depends on what you like to do/ages of kids
Lakes
Blackpool or lytham
Skipton/Bolton Abbey

Chester

SurgeHopper · 01/03/2019 19:28

East Lancashire railway in Bury has lovely Steam Engines.

Rankellior · 01/03/2019 20:40

Ribby Hall village? Last drop in Bolton is nice and maybe 30 mins away. Blackburn is very close to M6 (Lakes) and M61 (Manchester/Bolton) so loads of choice

Mucky1 · 01/03/2019 20:40

You could always come to burnley as was made famous by last nights emmerdale. It's only one junction away. And we have Pendle kill and Pendle witches Grin

JRMisOdious · 01/03/2019 20:48

Seriously, not Blackpool. Lytham/St.Annes/Southport alright if the weather is good (lovely beaches, lots of nice restaurants). In bad weather, they’re ok if you’re 70.
Windermere, Hawkshead (anywhere in Lakes really) or Trough of Bowland is beautiful (if you’re into countryside pursuits, not a lot else going on)
Manchester and Liverpool have a lot of great attractions for kids, some of them free.

GoatyGoatyNiceAndFloaty · 01/03/2019 20:49

Stanley House (on the outskirts of Blackburn) is a gorgeous spa hotel.
Your son doesn't play for Stoke by any chance does he?!

JRMisOdious · 01/03/2019 20:50
