Off to bath in a few months and looking for suggestions of things to do in case I need to book ahead- any suggestions? Also nice restaurants or unusual places?

Off your title I was going to suggest a candle and a long soak!

Sorry though I've never been to bath

ScreamingValenta · 01/03/2019 18:16

Ha ha! I too was going to suggest ways to enjoy a good long soak. It's a while since I've been to Bath but I used to enjoy poking round the antique shops there when I lived nearby.

Mumof1andacat · 01/03/2019 18:31

The Roman baths are interesting and go to a local tea shop for a bath bun...yummy

Thecrown3 · 01/03/2019 18:33

Lol oh yes sorry... bit misleading Grin

The thermae spa is my favourite place in the whole world!

Bluntness100 · 01/03/2019 18:35

Oh I misread that too, I was going to say have sex. I guess it still stands for the city, 🤣

myrtleWilson · 01/03/2019 18:37

I know its a MN cliche but the spa alongside the Roman baths is really good - they have an open air roof top pool!

The Roman baths themselves are v good and worth a visit, it is corny but I always quite enjoy a bus tour around a city as it does give you a sense of the whole place and the different issues/historical aspects.

Walking round The Crescent etc is worth your time and Pulteney Bridge looks spectacular from not on the bridge but is always very busy actually on the bridge.

Depending on transport plans you could do a quick jaunt out to Bradford on Avon for a nice country pub lunch or if you wanted more urban Bristol is only 10 mins away on the train...

ArseholesOnToast · 01/03/2019 18:48

I was going to say fart...ahem.

The botanic gardens are lovely and then to Sally Lunn’s for a bun.

Ricekrispie22 · 01/03/2019 18:52

Obviously you’ve got to visit the Roman Baths. My favourite museums are the Jane Austin museum, the Royal Mint Experience, No 1 Royal Crescent and the Fashion Museum and I’d also recommend the brewery tours at the Bath Brew House. If you don’t mind heights, it’s worth climbing the Abbey tower for amazing views on a clear day. Bath Aqua Theatre of Glass is also interesting and you can watch glassblowers and stained glass artists and even have a go yourself.
Sally Lunn’s tea room is a must for the famous bun www.sallylunns.co.uk
The Pump Room restaurant is the go-to location for Afternoon Tea. They make the most amazing scones! But it also does lunch and breakfast.
Sotto Sotto is an atmospheric Italian restaurant in unique underground location that’s a favourite with the locals.
The Oven is a popular pizzeria with award winning pizza. Pizzas are wood fired and the toppings are generous. It's also v.close to the Theatre Royal Bath and Ustinov Studio.
The Raven serves up good ol' hearty pub grub and real ale. They serve really good pies!

llangennith · 01/03/2019 19:07

I was keen to find out what others found to entertain themselves in the bath😂

Whynham · 01/03/2019 19:38

Komedia comedy club.
Bizzare Bath ghost walk (hilarious)
Parade Gardens and a walk along Pultney Bridge

Thecrown3 · 01/03/2019 22:34

Thank you all I’ll start looking these up

If you visit the Roman baths - which you should - then buy tickets online in advance. The turn-up-on-the-day queues are insane.

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 01/03/2019 22:41

Thermae Spa, without question!

MrsMoastyToasty · 01/03/2019 22:49

Royal Victoria Park
The Fashion Museum
The Abbey

If you're going late in the year then go to the Christmas markets.

Rubberduckies · 01/03/2019 22:57

I thought people were going to have some genius ideas of what else could be done in a bath! I was thinking relax, read a book, shave legs, watch Netflix, have sex and was struggling to think of more!!

3catsandcounting · 01/03/2019 23:58

Another vote for The Raven - amazing home-made pies.
Boston Tea Party is great for breakfast or lunch.

pearldeodorant · 02/03/2019 00:11

So many incredible restaurants in Bath

The circus restaurant- delicious food at lunch especially
Jars mezze- the best Greek food and the waiters always remember us. Go for an evening meal
Claytons kitchen also great though nicer atmosphere in jars
Ole tapas and la perle also if you want tapas

Lived in Bath for two years and the food was incredible! Wonderful city. Have a lovely trip.

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 02/03/2019 00:13

I only came on to get tips for making my bath less boring. Maybe use a capital as it’s a name... as for Bath, there’s some lovely quaint shops. Also the Roman Baths and Abbey and the Fashion Museum. It’s just a really nice place

thecutecouple · 02/03/2019 00:25

I misread the title too. Blush I know nothing about the town called Bath in England. Grin

AngelOfDeathNix · 02/03/2019 00:46

The ghost walk is very funny

Thecrown3 · 02/03/2019 06:45

I know , I know, was rushing to post and fluffed it Grin.
It doesn’t help that I can’t preview my posts atm for typo’s... can anybody else not preview?? I posted a thread on it lol

Alexandra park, it’s a steep walk up from town but once you get there the view back is amazing and worth the climb.
