Sending alcohol to australia

I am not being lazy, I have spent all afternoon going between Australia’s customs site, Royal Mail and australia Mail.

Can I send alcohol as a gift to Australia via Royal Mail, more specifically a cider at about 6% volume?

I dont know the legality but seems a lot of faff on, just send a voucher to buy cider over there.

No idea if you can but that sounds like more trouble than it would be worth. How much do you want to send?

EhlanaOfElenia · 01/03/2019 17:31

I take it it's a special brand which has some significance? Otherwise I can't understand why you would do that, the cost will be enormous!

alcohol Here is some information. Some of it is a bit garbled, but there are a LOT of taxes that need to be paid.

It's not easy to ship alcohol anywhere. Try DHL. It's not cheap either.

I think it's pretty much a no no (my DIL to be is Aussie and sending gifts is a minefield) Can you see if you can find it IN Oz and order it from there?

We use this company to send wine/champagne etc to family in Australia.

They do have some UK ciders on there although not sure which one you're trying to send.

The British Corner Shop is worth looking at - always assuming they stock the cider you are after. They do seem to have some, and offer shipping to Aus.

No you can’t. It’s a nightmare!

secretsquirrelthethird · 02/03/2019 07:21

Thanks all, think I will leave it! It was a specific local cider so can’t send a voucher. Will probs send a T-shirt with said cider logo, sounds easier.

Dan Murphy's really has an amazing stock of overseas booze (I live in Sydney) so it might be worth checking they don't have it. I have seen really obscure beers and ciders.

secretsquirrelthethird · 02/03/2019 09:05

Thanks, I checked Dan Murphy and they didn’t have it. The British corner shop did, 6 bottle £20, shopping £40 Grin making it a tenner a bottle - I don’t want to send it that much!

Shopping?! Shipping

It's not Saxby's by chance is it?

secretsquirrelthethird · 02/03/2019 10:59

No, it’s Cornish Rattler - quite mainstream, so easy to buy some and post from here, but apparently shipping will be astronomical.

I know you can’t to NZ so I imagine it is similar! T shirt sounds like a good alternative 😄
