What would you do with a 'you' day?

I have a 4 week old and a 4 year old. DH told me today he's booked Monday off so I can have a 'me' day and do whatever I want whilst he has the baby (4yo in school)
Problem is- I don't know what to actually do. My mums away and friends are working. I was thinking maybe just grabbing a book and going to a coffee shop?
Any ideas? What would you do with a day to yourself?

With DC that age my day off would involve sleep, a bath with bubbles and a book, some crap TV and some yummy food.

If you wanted to leave the house maybe a massage or a walk if its sunny.

Ooooo do a massage and a facial - a lovely peaceful country walk - good coffee and good food and a luxurious bath and book

Not necessarily in that order

That's my dream day - apart from the bath. I hate baths!

Meet a friend for lunch (or just find a relaxed place and go alone with my book), take a walk if the weather was good to walk off the lunch. Then do some leisurely swimming for a while, followed by a nice warm shower, have a lovely firm massage whilst my muscles were still warm then and home! If massage is not your thing then go and watch an early film in peace and quiet before going home having collected a takeaway and a bottle of wine (so no cooking!) 😄

I would love to lounge around the house and watch tv but DH would be here with baby and then DD would be Home half 3 and I couldn't ignore them even if I want to haha!
I'm thinking massage sounds good- I also like the idea of going the cinema alone with a big bag of pic and mix! Thanks guys Smile

I was thinking about this whilst having a coffee this morning. I have a birthday coming up and I do not want any fuss. So I've decided to take myself of to Cambridge for the day and just have a good old wander around. No rush, No pressure, Going on the train so drinking over lunch not a problem.

Looking forward to it now :)

Breakfast at a coffee shop followed by sleep

sayhiforme · 01/03/2019 21:04

I've never ate out on my own - I may go for breakfast somewhere and take a book.
My other option is my parents are away so I could just go to there's and binge watch something in between naps totally undisturbed Grin

OMG Shock

I'd :

Go cycling, stop for coffee somewhere lovely
Go out for a huge breakfast
Go to a spa or have a treatment
Go shopping, have lunch out too
Museum and lunch out

The sleep option at your parents does sound tempting tho

Book into a hotel, order room service for lunch and then sleep!

cheeseandcrackers · 01/03/2019 21:10

I have a day like this next week, planning sleep in the morning, lunch out with a friend and hairdressers. But now reading these responses, I also want to fit in a massage and cinema on my own... need a week of 'me' days I think..

thenightsky · 01/03/2019 21:11

Depends on the weather.

If shit, feet up and Netflix.

If sunny and dry, roof down on car and drive to the coast the pretty route.

HappyGirl86 · 01/03/2019 21:11

Buy lots of yummy treats and get comfy at your parents place. You can sleep and watch your favourite shows! Have a lovely day whatever you do!

mrsfollowill · 01/03/2019 21:26

You are in the hardest part of parent hood! I'm much further along the line but only work 4 days a week [hangover from the baby days!] so have a teen now. Next week on my day off I'm going to a major city to see matinee at the theatre of a totally sold out show- lunch deal at a 'posh restaurant' ( £13.95 for 2 courses) With tinies like yours I would have been tempted with booking into a Premier Inn and sleep! Look after yourself. What would you do with no restrictions? Be selfish and do what you want to do and kudos to your DH for suggesting it he sounds like a keeper. You will feel so refreshed for doing something just for you.
