Does it require an engineer coming in to my house? We're in the middle of huge DIY projects so ideally id like to avoid this but the deal we've been offered to upgrade to fibre expires in a week.

If you have a telephone line already and it is Fibre to the Cabinet - no you don't need an engineer

If you want Fibre to the house then you will need an appointment

Ok doke. I have no idea if its fibre to the cabinet.

Have you had fibre cables installed before? When we got it they had to lay a cable from the main cable under the pavement up to the house (was layed under the grass) and then had to drill through the wall to get the cables into the house. There is a box thing on the outside wall where the cable comes through.

We are with virgin media and it had only just come to our area so none of the houses in our street had had cable before. Who are you with and how do you get broadband currently

Mine was exactly the same as Dementedpixie.

Its with TalkTalk and its just normal broadband. Im pretty new to the area so have no clue if theres been fibra cables laid before. Im in a coverted house and we're the upper flat. So im not sure how easy it would be if they were having to drill through walls!
