Drug shortages are you affected?

My pharmacist apologised this morning he cannot get the drugs I need, he will try to get hold of some, unfortunately other drugs do not work on me according to my consultant. I have an abbreviated list of the drugs which are in short supply.

WHICH MEDICINES ARE IN SHORT SUPPLY?
The Government agreed to pay higher prices for the following medications in December because they had become more difficult to get hold of.

The list below is shorter than the 80 specific prescriptions included on the list because many exceptions are for different sized packets or separate formulations of the same drugs.

Allopurinol
Amiloride
Brimonidine 0.2% eye drops
Buprenorphine sublingual tablets sugar free
Carvedilol
Citalopram oral drops sugar free
Clomipramine
Co-careldopa
Diamorphine powder for solution for injection ampoules
Dosulepin
Fluoxetine
Furosemide
Glyceryl trinitrate pump spray
Hydroxocobalamin solution Ibandronic acid
Lamotrigine
Latanoprost eye drops
Lercanidipine
Levetiracetam oral solution Lofepramine
Losartan
Metoprolol
Metronidazole
Naproxen
Nebivolol
Nicorandil
Nitrofurantoin
Nortriptyline
Ondansetron
Orlistat
Propranolol
Quetiapine
Ramipril
Ranitidine
Risperidone
Sevelamer

Gazelda! Good luck to both of us eh? 🤞🤞🤞

Itscoldouthere · 28/02/2019 17:18

Thank you Rafflesway and Gazelda hopefully they will give me them instead, very annoying though as I will run out tomorrow and can’t see the doctor till Monday, the doctors tried to get me them for two weeks then gave me a prescription yesterday saying go and get them somewhere else, I tried 7 places big and small but no luck.

CluedoAddict · 28/02/2019 17:19

Between me and DH we take about 7 things off that list. Not had a problem getting anything yet.

@SwimmingJustKeepSwimming I was prescribed some the other day and had no problem getting them for a uti.

Interesting, yesterday my normal supplier for ranitidine was out though I found an alternative (I buy online off prescription because it's cheaper) just ordered another 72 to be sure

My DH has had issues getting Adalat (nifedipine) and now having issues with the alternative Adipine (same drug, different name). Going on since beginning of this year.

CheeseWheel · 28/02/2019 17:49

We struggled with one. Our pharmacy is connected to the surgery and worked with them to sort it. Mostly this has involved prescribing double lots of 250mg instead of 500mg and other similar work arounds.

We had none at all for about 2 weeks but have been ok since with the workarounds.

HalfBloodPrincess · 28/02/2019 17:53

Not a medication, but my surgery has been trying to get hold of a whooping cough vaccine for me since I was 16 weeks pregnant. I’m now 28 weeks and still had no luck

SparklySneakers · 28/02/2019 18:20

Pretty sure that's NOT the UK list as this was mentioned a few days ago. I googled and UK list was different.

SparklySneakers · 28/02/2019 18:30

It's also 6 weeks old. That list has come via an organisation that no longer provides a list of products apparently and was reported in the Daily Fail so take it with a ounce of salt.

No current issues here. Pharmacist yesterday said no issues known.
