Has anyone come across Momo?

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I only heard about it last night. Some of my DD's friends are seriously freaked out by this but she's (thankfully) not come across it (we've checked her devices).

My dc school sent out a parent mail yesterday, but didn't actually speak to the children.

I spoke to my children (11,10) and neither have seen or heard about from anyone else.

I did think it was telling that when speaking to them they both said it was like that 'stupid killer clown' thingy that was going around a couple of years ago. So even they realised that it wasn't real. But knew that 'certain' kids will say they have seen it, so now it will become a 'big' thing seeing who can out do each other.

Exactly clutterbug, and parents, the grown ups in this situation, are the worst ones for carrying it on. Cringe!

I've told so many people IRL that it's a hoax.

I have chosen not to talk to my child about it although I will now the guardian article is out and I can show her that and explain the context of hoaxes.

I'd be really pissed off if their school did a "warning" talk about it!

Regardless of whether it's a hoax or not (I simply don't know so can't comment), the fear for my DD's friends is very, very real. (DD has just dismissed it as rubbish).

Well that's the thing isn't is Didthat it doesn't really matter whether it's a hoax or not, it's managed to get a load of kids terrified either way. Exactly like we were terrified of The White Lady ghost in the 80s. It's the same kind of nonsense.

I asked my kids about it (age 12 and 15) and they said it was originally spoken about a year ago. Dd was flabbergasted that it was still about and that people were scared of it . They are both avid YouTube watchers but haven't had it pop up at them.
