If you do overnight oats, what are your favourite combinations? Sitting here roasting after a bowl of porridge Grin need an alternative!

I think I need Greek yogurt to be involved as I find it really keeps me full for a long time on busy days.

What do you rate?

I usually stew some apples and raisins with cinnamon once a week, then use a big spoon of that with oats, some flax seed and chopped nuts. Cover with almond milk and that is delicious!

Dollop of Greek yoghurt on top would make it v creamy!

wellhonestly · 28/02/2019 09:58

Chopped defrosted cherries (and their juice), maple syrup, cream cheese and flaked almonds. Cream cheese and almonds just get dolloped on the top in the morning.

Forgot to say you also need water to soak overnight, I use same volume as the oats.

Organic oats, apple juice and some frozen mixed berries and cherries left overnight. Next morning add a dollop of natural Greek yogurt from the big Lidl tub or as a real treat, Rachel's Organic Coconut yogurt. DelishSmile

This pina colada one is my favourite. Put 50g of rolled oats in your jar and top with 250ml coconut milk (not the kind from the can, but the milk substitute found in the refrigerated section). Add a pinch of salt and 1-2 tsp of sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or agave for example), and1/2 tbsp of melted coconut oil. Stir well. Next add 1/4 cup of pineapple - you can use fresh, frozen or tinned. Crushed pineapple works as well, though may make your oats a little soupier! If you used tinned pineapple add a few tablespoons of the juice for extra flavour. Fold in until the pineapple is spread throughout your oats. Lastly top with 1 tbsp of desiccated or flaked coconut. Refrigerate overnight.

If you're a fan of the classic combination of chocolate and peanut butter, then this one is for you. Combine 50g of oats with 1 tbsp of chia seeds and 250ml of your preferred liquid. Next add a pinch of salt, 1 tbsp of cocoa powder, 1 -2 tsp of sweetener and 2 tbsp of peanut butter. Stir well then top with a sprinkle of dark chocolate chips, or cacao nibs.

This one is just like carrot cake. Once again, get your 50g of oats and combine with 1 tbsp of chia seeds and 250ml of liquid (milk or milk substitute). Next add a pinch of salt, 1 -2 tbsp of raisins, 1 tbsp of maple syrup,1/4 tsp of vanilla,1/4 tsp of cinnamon, and a pinch each of ginger and all spice. Combine well and then fold in1/4 cup of finely grated carrot. Refrigerate overnight and for a bit of extra tastiness top with a dollop of cream cheese in the morning.

I make the pancakes. 40g of oats mixed with 3 tbsp of Greek yoghurt and left overnight. Blend in 2 eggs and a tsp of sugar or granulated sweetener, blend until smooth.
Fry- I use frylight- I use a ladle just less than full. They rise up like American-style pancakes.
I get 5 pancakes from this, serve with fruit.

HavingARatherGoodDay · 28/02/2019 18:15

What is overnight oats?

MelanieCheeks · 28/02/2019 18:16

Keep bags of frozen fruit like berries in the freezer. The night before add a handful of berries to oats and yoghurt (I'm currently likling the Kefir type, but Skyr is high protein too). Drizzle with honey or agave nectar. next morning add some nuts and seeds (if you do this overnight they lose their crunch). Cocoa nibs are my favourite add in.

Good combinations are:

Cherries and almond
Raspberry and hazelnut
Mango and brazil nut pieces
Grated apple, cinamon and walnut. Maple syrup instead of honey.

Upsy1981 · 28/02/2019 19:34

I'm currently enjoying oats with almond milk, grated apple, raisins, cinnamon, chia seeds, some frozen blueberries, honey and in the morning adding a dollop of coconut yogurt and another quick drizzle of honey.

Oblomov19 · 28/02/2019 19:39

Which oats do you buy?

JeremyIronsBenFolds · 28/02/2019 19:45

Soak the oats overnight in apple juice, then stir in natural yoghurt in the morning, et voila! I like mine simple.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 28/02/2019 19:47

Do flapjacks count 😉

I grate some apple, squeeze a bit of lemon, add yoghurt and oats (and any berries I have knocking around) and yummmmm. Add some nuts in the morning and it’s so lovely I’d eat it for dessert too!

I love this recipe tasty.co/recipe/peach-pie-overnight-oats it's amazing but I use tinned peaches instead of fresh as its handy.

acatcalledjohn · 28/02/2019 20:21

I have two favourites:

Oats with a chopped orange, cinnamon and some honey, mixed in to Fage 0% yoghurt.

Oats with mashed banana, crunchy peanut butter and a touch of cinnamon, mixed in almond milk. If I feel decadent I add some chocolate chips too.

beanaseireann · 28/02/2019 20:29

oblomov19
I use Flahavans Organic jumbo oats or Tesco gluten free oats.

Upsy1981 · 01/03/2019 06:19
