Apparently there’s a good chance in the UK. Take a picture for me if you can please! Just back from Iceland for the second time with no luck!

I am given to understand that they are sometimes seen in the far north of the UK .

But I am confused by your request for a picture - why not just Google for pics? In fact video footage is available via YouTube!

Yup, here in Shetland. You can see it on this webcam on the cliffs at sumburgh

We had it where I am a few weeks ago but it’s foggy now.

Not likely here, since we're bathed in light pollution. We can see pontop pike, though :o

BMW, I feel sure the OP knows what the northern lights look like, but rather than generic Google images, is interested in other Mners’ photos from specific parts of the UK. Especially if it’s a good time for them now.

The northern lights don’t look like the photographs. They are done using some photo technique - slow shutter perhaps? Which makes the colours a lot brighter than what you see with the naked eye.

Apparently a TUI plane has been flying near Shetland the last couple of nights with Nirthern Light hunters aboard, that might be cheaper than a trip to Iceland!

I can see the ends of them from my bedroom sometimes, my sister also spent a fortune going to iceland and saw zilch.
