Has anyone else came across this phenomenon? I swear that in every place I've worked the IT man has been a Glaswegian Graham.

Just me?

I hardly ever encounter Grahams at all, which is such a shame, it's a great name.Grin
At work most IT peeps are called Lee, Rebecca or Craig (=early 30s i think?)

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 27/02/2019 22:22

Ours are all lee and Jason. Not Glaswegian though.

Muddysnowdrop · 27/02/2019 22:22

Yes.

GlitterPixie · 27/02/2019 22:36

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 27/02/2019 22:41

I do know a Glaswegian called Graham, but he's not in IT.

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 27/02/2019 22:44

I’ve a Scottish uncle called Graham that’s in IT. Not Glaswegian tho. Maybe there’s a franchise?

StealthPolarBear · 27/02/2019 22:44

All ours are dave

hairypaws · 27/02/2019 22:45

My husband is an IT Glaswegian but not called Graham 😁

thenightsky · 27/02/2019 22:47

Ours are mostly Dave or John. However, I do have a friend called Graham who is from Glasgow (not in IT though).

AgentProvocateur · 27/02/2019 22:49

Yep, I know a Glaswegian IT person called Graeme.

PetuliaBlavatsky · 27/02/2019 22:50

I've worked in IT for more than 20 years and have NEVER met a graham of any sort, let alone Glaswegian. I feel cheated.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 27/02/2019 22:50

Our IT manager is an English Graham. Maybe he’s got Scottish ancestry?

Ameliablue · 27/02/2019 22:52

I'm Glaswegian and work in IT but don't know any Graeme's.

Bumply · 27/02/2019 22:56

Edinburgh rather than Glasgow but have had Graeme and Graham leading the Networks team in the years I've been in current company.

Bumply · 27/02/2019 22:57

We have a million Andrews in a variety of IT roles

megletthesecond · 27/02/2019 23:00

Dave heavy in our IT dept too.

TressiliansStone · 27/02/2019 23:03

It's next to the one which produces Scottish handymen called Derek and Colin.

TressiliansStone · 27/02/2019 23:07

But I agree IT men are unnaturally likely to be Dave.

needmorepizzainmydiet · 27/02/2019 23:09

Most Scottish Grahams spell it Graeme.

greendale17 · 27/02/2019 23:11

I have never worked with anyone called Graham

GunpowderGelatine · 28/02/2019 00:23

I had a brief spell working in a highways team and there are an alarming amount of Kevin's who work in highways!

tablelegs · 01/03/2019 01:28

I know several Graham's. One is in IT.

All Glaswegians.

Auntiepatricia · 01/03/2019 01:30

Pretty much everyone in my office is called Stephen, Andrew, Dave, Keith or Ken. All 200 of them.

Quintella · 01/03/2019 01:48

Our IT guy is a Glaswegian called Graham.

There are a LOT of Grahams in Scotland though. And a surprising amount of youngish men called Gordon and Malcolm
