Is anyone else watching again and waiting for her to go into labour? I spent hours watching her two years ago. Very relaxing and therapeutic.

I happened to be watching when she gave birth to Tajiri. So cute!

Holding my breath. Is the little one ok?

Sunshineboo · 16/03/2019 16:44

The little one is on floor. Is this normal?

Soubriquet · 16/03/2019 16:44

I’ve seen it’s leg twitch but not much else...

Justmuddlingalong · 16/03/2019 16:44

Yippee! 🥂🍾🦒

Soubriquet · 16/03/2019 16:44

Here we go!!

She’s got the sack if it’s face and it’s coming round

Sunshineboo · 16/03/2019 16:45

Think I just saw it move

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 16/03/2019 16:45

Bloody hell, so pleased to see her calf move.

Soubriquet · 16/03/2019 16:46

Poor things must get such a shock dropping to the floor like they do

Horsemad · 16/03/2019 16:47

Aaaahhh.

MadisonAvenue · 16/03/2019 16:49

That was amazing! I was so worried for a bit though when it was just lying there.

Soubriquet · 16/03/2019 16:50

I think we all did!!

Especially when the screen first went black. Panicked for a second there

killpop · 16/03/2019 16:52

Aww I missed it 😞

We saw the last one being born. It as amazing

Soubriquet · 16/03/2019 16:52

What we guessing. Girl or boy?

She’s had 4 boys and 1 girl so far.

I’d like to think she’s had a girl but I bet it’s a boy again.

Obviously we won’t find out for a few days until it’s new born checks have been done. They will want to let April bond with her calf first

Justmuddlingalong · 16/03/2019 16:53

Oliver seems very agitated.

MadisonAvenue · 16/03/2019 16:53

I know!! My heart sank when the screen went black.

Soubriquet · 16/03/2019 16:54

I would say he’s probably going “what the fuck is that?!!”

Male giraffes don’t tend to hang around after they have bred the female, so for them to see a baby born is something they are not used to

MadisonAvenue · 16/03/2019 16:54

Just he does, I was just thinking that.

ScreamingValenta · 16/03/2019 16:55

Huge contractions there!

Soubriquet · 16/03/2019 17:01

They don’t exactly have a stress free environment at the moment do they?

There’s a little girl running around and probably making lots of noise.

There’s a baby who has just been lifted out of the car seat so that was probably crying, there’s several zoo keeps all standing round chatting.

You would have thought they would leave her in peace with her calf and monitor from the camera

Backseatonthebus · 16/03/2019 17:04

I'm astonished (and cross) at the child being there. That's unnecessary and must surely add to the stress. If keepers do need to be there, surely one or two would be enough, and no bugger else.

Justmuddlingalong · 16/03/2019 17:05

I agree. Surely only the people who work regularly with them should be there. Seems very busy at such an important time , when everything appears to have gone according to plan.

MadisonAvenue · 16/03/2019 17:07

Yes, I also thought they'd monitor by camera. I'm surprised by how many people are in there, and especially the keepers allowing young children to be there.

Omgineedanamechange · 16/03/2019 17:08

I’ve been watching this cam all week. All Fucking Week. I saw the hooves pop out, was on the edge of my seat. Then we had a power cut. A FUCKING POWER CUT RIGHT AT THE EXACT FUCKING MOMENT THE BABY WAS BORN. When iI got my WiFi back it was all over. 😢😢😢😢 gutted.

Soubriquet · 16/03/2019 17:09

I think I might fire off a complaint

All this stress can’t be good for them...even now April seems to have lost interest in the calf

Justmuddlingalong · 16/03/2019 17:13

I'm thinking the same. I know I'm not a giraffe expert but it's a bit like one of us giving birth and the staff from the Costa coffee in the hospital nipping in with their kids to take photos. Not the calm, bonding time that surely any new mum deserves.
