My iron is full of calcium, how to clean it properly?

Having covered my trousers in calcium, I put white vinegar in the tank. Now the iron smells like the local chippy. What's the best option now please?

I was just going to suggest vinegar! I did this too and the smell eventually disappeared but it took a long time. There are products that you can buy to descale your iron
