I have been out of the workforce for a few years now. I used to work in a specialised policy sector doing research, data gathering and analysis, writing up reports, etc. This was based in London.
I have an opportunity to build my skills for a career closer to home, and I've been looking at a variety of jobs with the word 'analyst' in the title and it strikes me that they vary hugely. Data analyst, intelligence analyst, business analyst, business intelligence analyst, information analyst...some need a degree in computer science while others are really asking if you know how to use Excel.
So, if you are an analyst can you tell me what you do and how technical/specialised your skills are?
