I know this sounds a bit random but I am a longterm poster (nc for this for anonymity) looking for a cheaper way to do a holiday in the UK, would anyone be up for a few days home swapping?
Maybe a long weekend or up to a week somewhere in the UK.
I live in sunny Brighton in a 2 bed flat 5 mins walk to the sea. It's a lovely sunny place, with enough room to sleep up to five people (double bed, single bed, pull out mattresses) but am probably looking for a swap with 2 - 3 people rather than the full four (however open to offers!).
I'm looking to house swap for a few days (or longer?) in school holidays with someone in the UK, preferably in a nice holiday destination (coastal or fun city / countryside). Must be suitable for me and my 6yo DS and possibly his dad who is also very nice (my ex but we are still good friends). We are very well behaved and look after places we stay in. I've not done a holiday home swap before but whilst away recently I decided I wanted to find a cheaper way to holiday and thought this could be a good idea...
My house rented accommodation so anyone looking to swap would have to be mindful of this. It's clean, sunny, a good location (by the sea). As it's rented there are a few things that I would like to change (woodchip wallpaper and the carpets and kitchen are not 100% perfect) but it has a mid-century and slightly minimalist vibe for the decor. It's not a palace but it is a pleasant place to stay. Kitchen, living room, separate toilet, bathroom (no toilet as it's separate), 2 x bedrooms. Photos can be provided and I would expect to see some pix of your place before anything was agreed.
I can provide a link to my airbnb profile references (which are excellent) and profile as a visitor showing my reviews from the various properties I have stayed in as a paying guest. We'd have to chat (Skype or similar) to ensure we are both happy with the arrangement and trust each other before agreeing.
Anyway if you're interested post a message below or DM me with ideas and then I can send you some pix! We are friendly and trustworthy types, I am totally aware of the potential pitfalls of this kind of arrangement but would ensure we are both 100% happy with any agreement before going ahead... Also maybe initially you could come stay for a night with us in the property, or meet up somewhere in advance to check we were ok with the arrangement before agreeing a longer term swap!
