Wide gold wedding bands....

Hi everyone...I'm new here.
Right, so I happened to lose my wedding ring a few weeks back and I'm devastated I can't find it. I've looked everywhere and I mean everywhere. So I've given up and going to buy a new one. The one I lost was 6mm but I am looking for something double the size. Just wondering what you all think or could share any pics?

Why don't you go and try some on, see how they look on you? 12mm is very wide. Might look a bit 70s...

I had a very wide wedding ring, I loved it, but after a few years I found I had a constantly sore finger, as it was always difficult to keep dry underneath, after having my hands in water, or on hot days, when my hands would sweat. I ended up having it cut into two separate rings, I wear the wider one on my ring finger, left hand and the narrow one on my other hand.
Unless you're sure that won't happen, go ahead. I always wish I could have kept mine in one piece, but it wasn't practical .

Mine is 8mm wide. I love it but I think it’s about as wide as I’d want to go. I can still wear another ring Dh gave me with it sometimes if I want to.

I’ve noticed most people seem to have much thinner wedding rings these days. Mine seems to be on the wider side in comparison.

My mums rind must be about 10/12 mm. It’s lovely of course but I think I’d find it uncomfortable. Depends on whether you have lovely long fingers (unfortunately I don’t).

@whitehorsesdonotlie you hit the nail on the head there with the 70's! Meant to add - mine was 10mm wide and now wider ring is 5mm , narrower one is 4mm.

Thanks for your replies so far. I've been going around all jewellers and old gold shops and the biggest I've seen is 9mm so far. Obviously not as fashionable nowadays as you have both said definitely 70's! But I'm a retro girl and as I've got older I've got into my gold more...especially old gold where it has that colour to it.
I love the 2 bands that you had made...really beautiful.
I have long fingers but not sure if they're what you'd call lovely Smile

8mm is a nice size, do you wear eternity/engagement ring with that too? Smile

Sometimes I wear another ring with it but usually not. It’s 18ct and I’ve worn it for 24 yrs (blimey that’s a shock 😳😄) dh’s is the same and they were made for us .

I do take it off often (should doesn’t but I do) but only because I’m a bit strange in that I just don’t like wearing jewellery in the shower. But I make sure that I only ever ever put it in exactly the same place when I take it off.

GreenOliveOrBlackOlive · 27/02/2019 20:26

Dh not should, dunno where ‘should’ came from 😄

MRStobey · 27/02/2019 22:05

😂 I'm the same, I always take all of my gold off before I shower. I have a 3 carat full eternity ring that I would wear with the gold band...I also have an engagement ring, a single diamond but if I put that on top of the other 2 rings it'll probably hit my knuckle lol 😂
