Which iPad for 10yo?

Thinking of getting an iPad or iPod touch probably 2nd hand for dd’s birthday.
Primarily would be used for games, listening to audiobooks and music, watching films. FaceTime maybe.
She currently has an ancient kindle fire which actually does pretty well but can only download one film at a time and can’t get many apps. It’s also pretty slow.
She’ll probably be getting a phone next year but has some long journeys coming up this year which a better tablet would be useful for.

I'd get the iPad mini personally (if you're only going for apple)

I’m not wedded to the idea of Apple but I’ve always had iPhones and they just make so much more sense to me than other platforms.
Is there a good equivalent to the mini? And which generation if we did go for that one?

There’s an iPod touch on local selling group for good price but only 16g. Is that enough? How much is that in terms of films/photos/videos/music?

My dd has an iPhone 6 I got a data only sim for it so she can take it out and about as well. I got the phone from very on a 0% interest deal if that helps.
