Do UK mobiles work as normal in europe??

DH told me that all mobiles now work in europe as if you are still in the UK. So no roaming plans needed etc.

I'm going to Italy and am wondering if I'll be able to text and call without setting up a specific 'abroad' plan

For the moment they do.

Until Brexit they do.

After that, only if the UK stays in the single Market.

For the moment they work as if you are in the UK. So calls to/from UK mobiles will be as if you were at home, but calling/receiving calls from Italian numbers may still be extra depending on what rates you usually get for calling numbers abroad when in UK.
