Aveeno daily moisturising lotion - does it smells faintly of urine?

I've just bought some of this to try on my eczema, and although it seems to have improved it very quickly, it smells faintly of urine to me Envy

Has it got urea in it? That's good for eczema apparently.

Fazackerley · 26/02/2019 10:00

It might have urea in.

MotorcycleMayhem · 26/02/2019 10:04

I'm pretty sure it does indeed have urea in it for the skin conditions it's designed to treat. I could never smell it, but I did a trial of it before it went to main release and lost it people on the trial said they could. It was definitely not reported as noticeable to anyone on the trial once applied to the skin and soaked in though.

Not urine, but occasionally the faintest whiff of almonds/marzipan ?

BearSoFair · 26/02/2019 11:07

I've just bought a bottle to use after getting a tattoo and I'm not sure I'd pick out a urine smell exactly but there's definitely a faint hint of something quite unpleasant! Seems ok once it's soaked in though.

I can't see urea on the ingredients list, but maybe it's called something else? I'm just paranoid that people will think I smell Confused

A faint smell of almonds in mine, however it makes my eyes sore due to the smell so I have left it for general use and gone back to E45 which really is unperfumed but smells slightly industrial and doesn't bring out allergies.

Have you tried E45? I use the one with the blue labelling but there is one with red that might be better for you.

I’ve never smelt this and hope others can’t have used it for a few years now and find it’s the best cream for my very dry skin that sometimes does flair up though I don’t have eczema

I use the blue one for very dry skin and ds uses the baby one (which smells lovely a little like johnson’s)

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 26/02/2019 11:27

I can only smell a faint smell of almonds from the one I use

ThomasHardyPerennial · 26/02/2019 11:28

Urea used in cosmetics is synthetically produced, and not from animal sources. If Aveeno contained urea it would be listed in the ingredients.

Just one thing though, I found it very heavy and it sits on my skin for ages. Also causes spots. The one with the blue top is even worse.

I completely agree! It smells like cat piss and I thought my partner was crazy when she said it smelled. Thanks for your post as we honestly thought some vandals pissed in the bottle and was going to ship it back

I find it smells on me. It seems ok on DH and MIL but if I put it on I feel like I stink. Worse is that unless I wash it off quickly it lingers for hours. No idea why
