The guy was a rare talent, The Colour Of Spring, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock are the kinds of records that can only really be described as transcendentally brilliant, and it's a shame that the genius behind them has passed away

Makes me feel old.

So sad. Such a distinctive voice and his music was the background to my formative years

My absolute favorite singer songwriter. Gutted to hear this. His haunting voice and melodies have helped me deal with so much emotion over the years. RIP Mark.

Very sad news - an amazing talent and they were one of my favourite bands as a teenager

Very sad to hear this, strangely I’ve been listening to TalkTalk a lot this week revisiting my teenage years and thoroughly enjoyed the nostalgia,

He was influential to me extending listening to music that wasn't Duran /Bananrama etc. Brought a little sophistication into my early teens.

I still sing to his albums alot.

So fucking young.
