Food shop

Where would you say is the cheapest place to do a full food shop? Personal judgement of quality doesn't really matter as I can't often tell the difference.
The choices are:
•Lidl
•Morrison's
•Tesco
•Asda
Tesco and Asda would be delivered so would be easier but I'm doubtful it's actually much cheaper?

Asda’s prices seem to have come down in line with Aldi recently. Not an exact science but I’ve noticed a change.

On your list I’d still go for Lidl

Delivered may be cheaper as you only buy what you intend to...

We use Tesco delivery but trialling Asda as they do seem a bit cheaper. We get fresh fruit'n'veg'n'meat from Aldi.

I quite like Iceland iv filled my freezer to the point of squishing it shut for £70 and your local fruit and veg shop/market for fresh xx

I like Aldi for products and price. However I like a few branded items that Aldi doesn't stock so will do a shop approx once a month at Tesco or Asda. It's then that I see the difference in prices, particularly on toiletries and cleaning products - can't beat Aldi for those.

In order of cheap to expensive

Lidl
Asda
•Morrison's
Tesco

But, if you have access to those shops, why not rotate? For non perishable stuff, there's probably things that are cheaper or you like better in one particular shop, so buy a few when you go.

There's no law that says that you have to buy the same items from the same shop at a weekly frequency.

Best location works in my opinion, but I do save money with delivery because I don't buy the impulse items!

SuzzieWithEthics · 26/02/2019 08:15

Lidl prices have been creeping up.

Wish they would stop with their 6 figure deals with mumsnet and athletes. Just keep the food prices low and don't do marketing.

Thanks everyone, think I'll be sticking to Lidl then!
