My 13 yr old daughter has horrendously heavy irregular periods. We are going on holiday in May & she's absolutely obsessed with swimming & waterpark at accommodation, period due at that time but could be anytime as sometimes lasts 2 days sometimes 2 weeks! She is stressing about it every day , a n y advuce very gratefully received x

Would she try tampons? Think you can get period swimwear too (like period pants)

See the GP and ask for norethisterone to delay it until you get back.
(has to be taken 3 times a day from before period is due throughout the time you want to delay it; some women react badly to it as with anything hormonal.)

There is a medicine the doctor can prescribe to delay her period... but I can't remember the name. Hopefully someone seeing the thread will know (or just ask the GP)

Ah, x-post with Patrick who knew the name! Smile

I use tranexamic acid that my doctor prescribed for me as I have really heavy periods. Usually stops my bleeding in a day then don't bleed till my next period

Thank you all, will take her for review at GPs x

Norehisterone or Provera will stop her periods - her GP can suggest which would suit her better. Tranexamic Acid will make bleeding less but she'll still have a period, I'd suggest stopping it.
Might be an idea to have her referred to investigate why they are so bad .
Don't let her go on holiday with a horrific period looming!
