Can I have a diamond in my wedding ring?

So DP proposed and gave me a beautiful ring with lots of little diamonds in a sort of twisty design. I have a ring left to me by my grandmother that I always thought I would get made into something special. It has 3 large-ish diamonds in it. My idea is to get one made into a wedding ring and then give one to each of my daughters on my wedding day.

Is this a stupid idea? Would it look too much like a second engagement ring? Has anyone got anything similar? Would love to see photos if not too outing!

My wedding ring has a diamond, but not a large one. Dh’s ring matches mine, but has a diagonal groove where mine has the break and diamond.

My wedding ring is an eternity ring - it's all diamonds. Incorporating your grandmother's diamond is a lovely idea.

I have a tiny diamond in a titanium ring as I didn't have a engagement ring.

I've seen all sorts of wedding ring, you can have whatever you like! I think this sounds like a really lovely idea, it would be so much more meaningful than a plain band from a jewellers.

RogueV that's a little bit what mine might look like but would be the other way round. They do look lovely together.

my engagement and wedding ring were made from my grandma's engagement ring so my engagement ring was a flat band with biggest diamond set in it and the cluster of littles ones were spaced around my wedding band but set into it so did not protrude at all. Sadly wedding ring was lost in pocket of hospital scrubs my DH wore when I had an emergency Caesarian. We had a ring re-made without the diamonds as main reason for them had been sentimental. I think traditionall engagement rings are more dressy and wedding rings designed to wear everyday but not sure it really matters, unless you work for NHS where infection control rules prefer no jewellery but accept plain wedding band

My wedding ring has a small row of diamonds on, the curve follows the shape of the engagement ring. I say go for it, sounds lovely

My 3 rings are all heirlooms from my family. Wedding ring was my great nans, eternity ring was my nans and my engagement ring was my mums. I love them altogether
