Recommend me a sausage please

Apart from small farmer market-type offerings, I've never found a good meat-based* (supermarket) sausage.

Needs to have a very high meat content to satisfy DH. I like the fat juicy ones.

Can anyone recommend a good sausage please?

*For non-meat I love a Heck sausage

Black Farmer, Black Farmer's daughter (if you can find it), Heck, Tesco's finest and M&S. All meaty and GF.

Denny’s gold medal 🤤

Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference pork and apple sausages. Juicy and delicious!

SnuffleBadger · 25/02/2019 21:12

Marks and Spencer 97% pork sausage.....absolutely delicious 😋😋😋

Al2O3 · 25/02/2019 21:12

DH should try Heaven. It’s a club in London. They do nice fat sausages.

Boatsnack3 · 25/02/2019 21:12

I like all the Asda extra special sausages. I buy the light and lean most often because they are low fat but the pork and Apple and the cumberland ones are good too.

anniehm · 25/02/2019 21:22

Any of the supermarket premium ones are fine, I like the pork and Apple personally.

BarbaraofSevillle · 26/02/2019 05:02

All the supermarket sausages probably come from the same factory and some will be exactly the same.

I wonder if the OP has tried the ones suggested and why they don't meet her expectations?

For DH I would try the 97% pork ones, there's a few types around, and the OP get whatever looks fat and juicy. If you end up with more sausages then you need, just freeze the rest.

But the Heck meat ones are pretty good so do you not like those OP?

Guinness sausages! They have them on special in aldi sometimes and they are gorgeous! We generally have quorn sausages but will get these occasionally

Impatientwino · 26/02/2019 06:34

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Chorizo style ones - think they've been rebranded as the smoky one. Absolutely delicious!!

Fairylea · 26/02/2019 06:36

Anything with a very high pork content should be pretty good- 95/97% ish.

I really like Tesco finest ones.

KnockMeDown · 26/02/2019 06:36

Porky Whites.

BertrandRussell · 26/02/2019 06:46

Lidl. Their chipolatas are particularly good, but their ordinary outside reared pork are excellent as well.

Does anyone know where I can get proper garlicky Toulouse sausages?

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 26/02/2019 06:48

Heck, again. Also I've been to the factory and they seem like nice folks. If you're in the North East, the Geordie Banger Company.

Thank you for all the replies, loads to get started on. Will be having a real sausagefest this weekend.

@BarbaraofSevillle - I'm just a bit out of the loop in the sausage industry, truth be told. DH is mad for sausages, so I bought him a 'sausage subscription' - which was excellent! So didn't need to buy sausages for a year.

Then we went vegan for a year (had to stop when I got pregnant as all I wanted to eat was Haribo Tangfastics dipped in cottage cheese, or chicken nuggets and battered cod. But pork made me want to vomit for the entire duration. No idea why.).

And then I tried (and failed, as too sleep deprived to remember) to give up pork because someone on Mumsnet said that pigs are as sentient as 3-year-old children.

In this time, loads of new brands have popped up and DH is ultra-fussy (when I'm buying them, he feels the need to swish it round his mouth and critique it like some sort of sausage connoisseur. When he buys then, he'll get whatever has a yellow reduced sticker).

I've not actually tried the pork Heck ones. I buy the chicken sausages regularly as well as all the veggie ones. Is Heck by the same people as Debbie and Andrews?

Heck are now doing skinless sausages which would be good for my toothless toddler.
