Where do I get a large, light swaddle?

4 month old usually well sleeping ds has teeth coming and is flailing himself awake at naps and at night jamming his fingers in his mouth and twitching etc.

He's 90th centile for length though a slim baby and I think it needs to be light as we're coming into summer now. Muslins don't work as he flails himself out of them.

Any suggestions? Cheap is good.

You can get gro swaddle bags but I have a feeling they only go up to 3 months. You can definitely get the gro swaddle blankets in 3-6 months. I have used both a lot in the past.

My 4mo DD3 outgrew her swaddle bag a few weeks ago and we've moved to tucking her in tightly with a cotton sheet which has helped with her startle reflex. Ime though older babies ironically really only stop the startle reflex once you stop swaddling and they get used to not being swaddled. There's an initial pain barrier that you have to go through first though!

Cut up an old sheet.

I really want something with Velcro or a zip, he'll wriggle himself free of a sheet or similar as he does this with muslins.

He's not always swaddled, only intermittently in the past so I'm not worried he won't learn to sleep without it - I just need some more sleep, I am frankly FOUL to be around at the moment. Sad

I don't think there is anything with zips or velcro for his age. I looked A LOT when DD2 was that age. She was a bad sleeper and I was exhausted and miserable. I had another look a few weeks ago for DD3 when she outgrew her swaddle bag but finding nothing I went with tucking her in with a sheet. It's worked well. All I found was the gro swaddle blanket which is what I ended up getting for dd2. The fabric is kind of enforced in places to stop it coming undone. You can probably see it in detail online. However the older they get the stronger they get and if you have a particularly feisty one then they do come undone. You could sew some velcro on though. You can even buy velcro that just sticks on.

Could you use a nappi nipper (sp?) to hold a Muslim in place?

BuggyWanker · 25/02/2019 20:32

Oh jeez - MUSLIN - fecking autocorrect

GetSchwifty · 25/02/2019 20:33

What about a love to dream swaddle, they are a thin jersey material.

This one is supposed to fit babies up to 9 kg - any good?
