Learning to drive

Hi is anyone else learning to drive at an older age? I am 38 and going for a lesson in about an hour! I have had lessons before on and off and have always stopped them due to nerves. I feel like it's now or never.
Just need to find a way to overcome the nerves 😏

I can’t drive and probably never will. However, before my theory test, I found having a giggle helped enormously. Have you got a funny book/ programme that you could read or watch beforehand?

BIG hugs OP. I'm 39 and passed my test just a few weeks ago.

Is this your first lesson with this instructor? If so, see how it goes but be prepared to change to another instructor if you feel it's not working out. I stayed with my instructor for too long and he stressed me out a lot

Its TOTALLY NORMAL to be nervous- it's serious stuff! Tell your instructor how you're feeling, remember to breathe, remember that it's fine and expected to make lots of mistakes in your lessons. You can definitely do this!

Well I survived Smile Went better than expected, I actually quite enjoyed it. Used some rescue remedy not sure if it helped or not. Still can't see myself ever being test ready though. New instructor was really good quite laid back which helped. I can do this! I think Grin

Well done you! I remember being SO nervous before my first lesson, and lots of the others too Grin you most definitely can do this. Great news that you like your instructor so far. It's early days so go easy on yourself

Well done on passing Smile Could you tell me the problems you had with your instructor? After my last lesson I'm debating whether to stay with mine or not!

It's small things but he's never once told me to check my blind spot, have never used the handbrake. He uses his phone during lessons, there's no structure to my lessons.
