Help me choose a family car? Please!

I really want something higher up. I like the Crossland X by Vauxhall but realistically, I'm looking to go back to uni in 18 months so I wouldn't be able to afford it comfortably on a monthly plan.

I'm looking to buy something outright. I'm not majorly fussed about what year it was made, but I'd like it to look fairly nice and be comfortable. My budget would be around £3k max.

I have a toddler and a very tall DH as regular passengers.

I like the look of the Nissan Qashqai but again, quite pricey and to buy outright a bit much.

We have a kia carens. It's a decent car, doesn't guzzle fuel and is spacious with a good boot. However if we need to use the back 2 seats to make it a 7 seater there is no boot space at all and the 2 back seats have very very little leg room. Great 5 seater, not so great 7 seater.
