Am I being a mug re: maintenance?

ExDP was financially abusive so I'm not 100% sure how much he earns but I'd estimate around £50k p/a. He has 2 DC from a previous marriage and 3 with me whom he doesn't see at all. He currently pays £325. Should I be receiving more?

Have you checked the child maintenance calculator?

Gingerkittykat · 24/02/2019 23:09

Quickly plugging the figures into the child maintenance calculator says he should pay £161pw.

I'm not sure how it works as they don't ask about other children

Is it 25% of his earnings, his exW will receive 10% of that for 2 DC and I'll receive 15% for 3?

It’s so annoying being mugged off OP. I am too 😥 and have given up trying to get more. Doesn’t mean you should though, go for it!

I had a financially abusive ex too. I went through CMS and my payments have almost doubled

The way it's worked out has changed now as it's gone over the to the child maintenance service; they base their calculations on money before tax - this should help - you can also call them and ask them to explain / a rough estimate
