Is there much to do in Menorca?

Not looking for theme parks or anything.

Ideally looking for a town to potter about in, visit a few shops, see a nice church, have a nice lunch before coming back to a pool in the afternoon.

Is Menorca like that or is just hotel complexes?

Cuitadella is lovely. Old town with cathedral and restaurants overlooking the sea.

Menorca is perfect for doing what you describe

DramaAlpaca · 24/02/2019 15:43

Menorca would fit the bill perfectly.

Oooh fab. I've always heard how relaxing it is. Any particular recommendations would be very appreciated!

When we were children we stayed in Cala N Porter. Lovely little beach, nice restaurants and shops. Mahon is great as is Ciutadella. We stayed in Cala N Bosh a few years ago and it was nice but we didn't explore muchn

Mahon and Cuidadella are gorgeous towns. Cala Fons at the periphery of Mahon is a wonderful waterside area to wander around as evening falls.
There are stunning beaches and walks; excellent horse riding and of course water sports.
There are also terrific prehistoric sites that would have massive queues and infrastructure around them if they were on mainland Europe.
It’s a lovely place.

Cala Galdana is a lovely place to stay at the Ciutadella end. We stay at the Mahon end.

Thanks everyone- I'll be googling once the children are in bed!

Of course it isn't just hotel complexes, where on earth would you get that idea from?

There's lots to do. Walking, cycling, beaches, water sports, nice towns to potter around, gin distillery in Mahon.

Menorca would be lovely for that!

Mahon and Ciutudella are fabulous and as the island is only small, you can drive from one side to the other within 90 mins. Es Castell is a lovely little harbour town. There’s also a pretty Greek style village which is nice to mooch around and is close to a beautiful beach which is not at all commercialised but just has one lovely little bar and some clean toilets!

There’s an old monastery at the highest point of the island (which isn’t very high at all as it’s a pretty flat island) which is nice to drive up to.
