Reassurance needed-DS banged his head and he's in another country

DH and DS (5) were due to travel back from skiing in Italy today. DS bumped his head falling off a toboggan whilst they were waiting for their transfer.

DH rang me from the A&E as DS has suspected mild concussion so they were helicoptered down the mountain. DS couldn't remember the helicopter flight. He was crying in the background saying he felt fine and just wants to come home.

Poor DH is stuck sorting all this out (they will miss their flight) and I feel so useless. I just want to cuddle DS.

If it's mild concussion, is DS likely to be allowed to fly tomorrow?

I don't know about the flying but have a hug anyway xxx

Thank you.

You poor thing DD had mild concussion at that age and was awful to see

Not sure on flying though

LittleCandle · 24/02/2019 13:45

If it is concussion, he won't be allowed to fly. Talk to your travel insurance.

MinnieMountain · 24/02/2019 13:56

Really? Oh no! I couldn't find much on flying after concussion when I searched.

They're waiting to see the doctor after x-ray and CT scan.

The doctor will give advice, but generally flying is a no after a concussion. Wait until you have the results of the x-ray and scan and then you can plan what to do next. You will need to speak to your travel insurance company, though.

MinnieMountain · 24/02/2019 14:25

DH has been texting since he rang to say what happened. I'm sure he'll ring the insurance once they have the results.

It's horrible not being with them. They both need cuddles.

Well, DS is ok but is being taken to the children's hospital for 24 hours of observation. So I suppose they'll be home on Tuesday Sad

I'm glad he's okay and observation is wise. Sorry he won't be home until Tuesday, but at least you know he's safe.

Thank you LittleCandle. We have agreed that I'm coming on skiing holidays in the future!
