Does MN pay people to comment

Or do some commenters literally do nothing else in their lives? I dip in and out of MN and regularly name change. Every time I’m reading comments there are a handful of names that always always come up, usually in a pretty opinionated way. What do these people do (or not do, more to the point) Shockthat enables them to spend hours and hours every day reading almost every MN post and giving unsolicited advice to strangers? They can’t possibly have jobs, or children or a partner that they ever actually speak to.Shock(waiting for the answer from the horses mouths!!)

SAHP?

Long term illness? Like me?

Working from home?

Insomnibrat · 24/02/2019 06:28

I'm not paid, but unlike you I have a cold, meaningless, empty life which mainly comprises of me sat alone in the cold and dark, eating stale scraps and checking AIBU obsessively.

Lacypants · 24/02/2019 06:28

Surely if they are answering a post then the advice is not unsolicited

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 24/02/2019 06:32

I do agree to a certain extent, some
Posters post extensive posts seemingly all day long every most days. I think mn is like a hobby, and therefore takes as little or as much time as you can afford.

I wish it had been around when my kids were younger though, some of the advice would have been so helpful.

Lacy, yes, you are right, wrong choice of words. I mean unchecked/unregulated.

insomnibrat I have a raging, stinking cold....hence why I’m here!!!
I keep looking at the pile of books by my bed some of which have been there for years. I’m sure I could have read them all several times over if I didn’t get sucked into MN occasionally.

throughthick yes you are right, sometimes some very useful info, and if nothing else has given me a different view of the world from so many different angles.

sneakygremlins you mean SAHP, the P being for person not parent? You can’t possibly be doing much parenting if you spend 14 hours a day on MN.

I am on here a lot (change my name regularly so not in the category you describe.) I am a full time carer confined to the house.
