What's the website where you can send off for glasses cheaply with your own prescription?

What is says in the title....any recommendations? I've just been quoted £410 for my varifocals with their cheapest frame.

I can't afford that, but I have a new prescription so can go anywhere...

I recently used designer glasses boutique. They were excellent and £200 cheaper!

Glassesdirect ?

VictoriaBun · 23/02/2019 16:32

You might find that online / website glasses do not do varifocal lenses as the prescription is more complex. However, I'd be interested to find out whether you will get a post to tell me I'm wrong as I also would be happy to find out I could get them cheaper.

Not a website, but Asda Opticians offer one-price glasses which include (1) varifocals and (2) thinned lenses. Very reasonable price, I think I paid £129 for two pairs last year? Something like that.

Reglaze glasses direct. Mine cost £22!

Celebelly · 23/02/2019 16:41

I use Select Specs

I've also used glasses direct. All good. Specs for £20!

babysharkah · 23/02/2019 16:42

bringmethehorizonx · 23/02/2019 16:43

I've used Speccy 4 Eyes and Glasses Direct. Highly recommend them both!

www.ineedspex.co.uk was very happy with them.

WBWIFE · 23/02/2019 16:47

Glasses direct

kbPOW · 23/02/2019 16:48

No problem with varifocals!

Pennykins · 23/02/2019 16:50

I've used glasses direct too and would recommend them

Metheven · 23/02/2019 18:11

Asda opticians are really reasonable. I paid about £45 for a pair of varifocals with thin lenses. Best glasses I have had for years. The price on the frame is the price you pay. Previously very similar glasses cost me about £200, so very, very happy with Asda prices.

TeacupDrama · 23/02/2019 18:29

if your prescription is tricky like astigmatism, it is the lenses that cost the money not the frames, some frames don't work with certain lenses
with only glasses if the frame is just a bit tight or loose it is hard to get adjusted

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 23/02/2019 18:32

Glasses Direct.
They did 2 pairs varifocals for me. Very pleased with them.

Then I had laser correction (monovision) and they put new lenses in my glasses for night driving in one pair, and photochromic in other pair

EverybodysTalkingAtMe · 23/02/2019 19:21

This is all good stuff, thanks

Jins · 23/02/2019 19:28

Direct sight have been good

Xiaoxiong · 23/02/2019 20:02

DH uses spex4less.com and has been very happy with them!

Andcake · 23/02/2019 20:07

I used cubbitts - a bit hipster but reasonable price

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 23/02/2019 20:19

Glasses Direct - two pairs for £25! Admittedly not varifocals, but fairly certain they'd still be miles cheaper than any high street optician.
