Why does wine give me a headache...

after just one glass? It never used to but now if I've had a glass at night the next morning I have a splitting headache.

Have they changed the additives?

Red or white .
Cheap red always used to do this me but doesn't anymore or maybe I buy more expensive bottles. But I am not a massive drinker .

Deuhydrated?

Dehydration ?

I'm ok as long as I drink European wine.

Sulphites

Was it red? Red kills me even after 1 glass you can guarantee I’ll have a banging head the next day

Cheap white also not good. Higher price white I can drink a bottle and no hangover

Champagne also fine

Try an organic wine, and if you don't get a headache then it's probably the sulphites. I'm the same. Used to drink it by the gallon in my teens and early twenties. Now one glass gives me a headache.
I rarely buy wine now but when I do
I'll get organic. Aldi do an organic prosecco too.

I just don't get on with wine now. One glass and my head thumps. It started about ten years ago and hasn't improved so now I prefer a beer (can never manage more than one).

South African wine always does this to me. Menopause has exacerbated things as in cheaper Prosecco will do the same and I now don't drink much at all. Ive found a more expensive sparkling French wine which doesn't affect me but will only have some occasionally now. I love a glass of wine but it doesn't love me!

One glass of bought wine and I feel like shit
One glass of my home made wine and all is fine.

I don't really drink but I do have a glass every now and then. i say glass, about half a glass really.

Try making it yourself, it really makes a difference. Just fruit, water, sugar and yeast.

Homemade wine has no sulphites either!

I used to be able to drink a bottle in an evening. Recently (over the last couple of months) I've noticed that if I do this, I wake up around 3am with an absolutely banging headache that stops me going back to sleep. Even strong painkillers don't touch it.

I think it must be my age. I'm fine on vodka or gin.

A friend of mine can't drink any wine with tannin in as it gives her a headache but she's fine with other wines.

I know. But even organic bought wine makes me feel shite.

I find that within a couple of mouthfuls I tend to get a pressure headache, hot flush, clammy and if I carry on to a couple of glasses I feel almost anxious.
I've recently realised it must be sulphites. I now tend to stick to dark rum or clear spirits with juice/coke etc and don't get any of those feelings

It could be down to thinning of the blood brain barrier?

Sulphites, additives . Expensive quality wines tend to not do this.
You might be better having a vodka instead.

Well I've woken this morning with a headache and didn't drink at all yesterday so may be dehydration is the main issue and not the wine!!!

Do you grind your teeth whilst sleeping?
That could be another cause.

You can get your dentist to make you a night guard you wear over your teeth while sleeping.
