About to go for my 3rd driving test!

I haven't even told DP that I'm going for it. A last minute appointment came up and I decided to go for it as it seems no matter how much practice I get, my anxiety on the day takes over and I do something unexpected and fail. I'm pretty much resigned to failing again...please tell me I will pass someday. I don't know how many times I can keep doing this!

I watched a Jimmy Kimmel interview with Carey Mulligan from last year and she passed her test after 5 attempts - that made me feel slightly better!

Well done! It helps, I think, not telling anyone.

Ah congrats OP - I passed on my third attempt. I was convinced after five minutes that i had failed so though bugger it and relaxed and completed the test and was uber surprised (and promptly burst into tears) when he told me i had passed. He told me that i scored a minor after five minutes (at the point i thought i had failed) and he could see me visibly relax and praised me on keeping calm throughout my test. That was 11 years ago and best thing i ever did

Thanks so much everyone. I was so so nervous that I thought about just telling the examiner that I couldn't even attempt it. But he was so lovely, so funny and relaxed that he really put me at ease. My previous two were difficult to read and that made me even more nervous.

This is such a huge game-changer for me. I can't even begin to comprehend it!! I honestly thought I would fail and have to do it 6 or 7 times. So if I can do it, anyone can!!

I really want everyone to know never to give up, it's been years and countless bouts of tears over this. I had almost completely given up as going for the test causes me so much anxiety. But I'm so proud of myself. I had meant to go get beta blockers but didn't get the chance and now I passed without them. So you see, you can do it. It's a long hard road but I'm sure it's going to be SO worth it.

Congrats OP! A friendly examiner can make the world of difference. My first was a horrible, evil, miserable man. The examiner I passed with was friendly and chatty.... game changer!

adaline · 23/02/2019 13:38

Well done - it's the best feeling!

Furries · 23/02/2019 14:51

Brilliant, congratulations!! Hope you’re treating yourself this evening to celebrate. Have you surprised your DP with the news yet?

Navigational · 23/02/2019 16:05

I thought he would've suspected but no, he was super surprised...and relieved not to be the only driver anymore! Not so relieved now that our insurance is about to go through the roof Grin
