Couple who kept their 13 children in dreadful conditions plead guilty **trigger warning**

I’m sure many people remember this story from a year or so ago. One of the children managed to get free and got help.

I thought some might be interested to hear the update.

Thank you for this! I had been checking over the last few months to see if there was any progress on this case. The last I knew they were denying it all. Thank goodness they’ve had the decency to admit it and save those children the trauma of having to relive any of it for a trial.

Although I don’t for a second think they plead guilty for the childrens’ sake.

How could they deny it?
What could they claim happen? Someone snuck in and did it for over a decade?

They were so deluded that they were denying it. I think they’d spent so long in their own little world where what they said goes that they had lost all perspective with how it looked to everyone else.

I wonder if she was brainwashed to a degree.

It’s such an odd one. My first thought was that she was and then I wondered if I’m being too kind because she is a woman. It does seem to be a pattern that women involved in cruelty/abuse of children are always with a man who is involved in, and usually instigating it too. But these women must have something about them that wants to abuse their children. Or are they really at his mercy just like the children? In this case I just can’t tell. I don’t think there’s enough information about them to know.

It was an absolutely horrendous case, but from everything I read at the time,they were both equally culpable.

I hope they are sentenced appropriately . It's horrendous that those children have lived like that for so long. I hope they are all receiving professional help to have new lives

I expect it will be life without chance of parole tbh.
