Photos would be good too! DS LOVES chocolate cake and tries very hard not to eat too much (he's a bit of a fitness freak), but I want to bake him THE best birthday cake.

Are you planning on decorating it much, or just naked/candles? If the latter then this is unbelievably chocolately and gooey and delicious.

Nigella’s brownie recipe ( google it) and add 400 g of chopped up white chocolate in chunks, stir into mixture at very end just before you pour it into baking tin . Don’t overcook! Max 25 mins . It will continue to cook as cooling .
Cut into squares and make a pile , lots of birthday candles to decorate. Best every chocolate cake!

My Chocolate Fudge Cake is always a winner, made with oil it's super moist and I cover it with chocolate fudge icing...

12oz caster sugar
8oz plain flour
3oz cocoa powder
1.5tsp baking powder
1.5tsp bicarb
1tsp vanilla essence
2 eggs
125ml oil
250ml milk
250ml boiling water

Mix everything apart from boiling water which you add at the very end. Bake at 180 for about 40mins

This was in BBC Good Food magazine about 20 years ago, I still have the page I tore out. It's the best chocolate cake I've ever made by a long way but expensive ingredients.

Kladdkaka.....it's like the ultimate, cake crossed with brownie, crossed with those oozy fondant puddings.

Another vote for the ultimate chocolate cake posted by greenelephantscarf. I leave out the coffee as I don't like it, and have always used ordinary milk instead of buttermilk. Amazing recipe!

I found this one recently and it's been a bit in our house. More cake than brownie, not too heavy and doesn't dry out like my previous attempts.

Cloud forest chocolate cake. Make two and create a sandwich cake with whipped cream in the centre. Amazing.

Melt chocolate into bowl.
Eat with spoon.

Nigella lawsons olive oil chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganache on top for extra chocolateyness it's gluten and dairy free too. The best chocolate cake I've ever tasted! Sooo yummy and moist.

@Mooey89 phew. We are as one! When people ask for the recipe I always say that it is an old family recipe passed down through generations and I cannot possibly divulge it. I am bad.
